Remembering the Sacrifice
Luke 22:19-20 (CSB)
19 And he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, he also took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
The Lord’s Supper is a meaningful reminder of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. Instituted by Jesus Himself, this sacred ordinance calls believers to remember His sacrifice, His body broken and His blood shed for us, and to reflect on the new covenant established through Him.
The bread and the cup serve as symbols: the bread representing Christ’s broken body, and the cup symbolizing His blood poured out for the forgiveness of sins. While the Lord’s Supper is not a means of salvation, it is a powerful expression of a believer’s faith and gratitude for the grace we have received.
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you are invited to partake in the Lord's Supper when we observe it at Houston's First. If you do not consider Christ to be your Savior, you are welcome to join us for the services, but ask that you not observe the Lord's Supper.

If you plan to attend worship services at one of our campuses, the elements for the Lord’s Supper, juice and bread, will be provided for you.
If you are part of our online church family, we invite you to prepare in advance so you can participate in the Lord’s Supper from home. Simply gather some juice and bread (or similar substitutes) beforehand to have them ready when we observe this special time together during the service.
Purchase Grape Juice. Have enough for everybody who plans to participate.
Purchase Bread or Baked Crackers. Unleavened bread is preferred (baked without yeast). See below for a simple recipe you can follow at home if you choose.
Get the Elements Ready. Before the worship service begins, prepare small cups and cracker/bread pieces for each person.
Pastor Gregg, or our Campus Pastors, will guide us through the Lord's Supper during the service, instructing us when to drink and when to eat.
