Day of Baptism Sun, Oct 26

A special Day of Baptism all across Houston's First

DAY OF BAPTISM 2025

Where: The Loop, Cypress, Downtown, Sienna
When: Sun, Oct 26, 2025

At Houston’s First, we view baptism as an outward, visible demonstration of an inward spiritual transformation that comes about when one trusts in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

While we celebrate baptisms on Sundays throughout the year, we look forward to a special Day of Baptism on Sun, Oct 26, at each of our campuses. On that day, many people will follow through with this public profession of their faith!

We invite you to be baptized that day! If you have not already been baptized, prayerfully consider taking this important step, proclaiming to your family and friends that you are walking in the newness of life as a follower of Jesus! See below for FAQs about baptism and photos from last year's Day of Baptism on Sun, Oct 27, 2024.

Whether you will be baptized on Sun, Oct 26, or not, we invite you to come and celebrate all of those who are following Jesus’ example of believer’s baptism!

Frequently Asked Questions

Baptism is a symbol of your decision to follow Jesus, a public proclamation of your faith. Salvation does not come from baptism. Salvation only comes from placing your faith in Him. When you are baptized, it is a beautiful picture of His death, burial, and resurrection, and how you have placed your faith in Jesus alone.

“Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” — Romans 6:4

Those who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins are candidates for baptism. That is why we refer to it as “believer’s baptism,” an expression of your belief in His message and your decision to accept it.

“Those who accepted his message were baptized …” — Acts 2:41

Yes! Children and students can be baptized if they have placed their trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins. Parents or legal guardians are involved in the process when connecting with a staff member about taking the next steps and guiding the child or student through the process.

When baptism is talked about in the Bible, the Greek word used is baptizo, meaning to “dip” or “immerse” under water, and several descriptions of baptisms suggest that people were immersed (Matthew 3:6, John 3:23, Acts 8:38). Finally, immersion best illustrates the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:1-11, Colossians 2:12).

“... [they] went down into the water, and he baptized him.” — Acts 8:38

We invite everyone who is interested in being baptized on Sun, Oct 26, to complete the registration form by Sun, Oct 19. If you have not completed the form but feel called by God to be baptized on Sun, Oct 26, you are welcome to participate in our Day of Baptism!
