About Mariah Ranger

Mariah is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Abilene Christian University. She practices under the supervision of Myles Schutte, LPC-S, and Greg Curnutte, LPC-S. Mariah is passionate about walking alongside individuals as they navigate mental health challenges, providing a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and understood, leaving the session feeling encouraged.

Her counseling approach is rooted in person-centered principles and primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), using an eclectic approach that meet the client where they are.

Having grown up in South Africa, Brazil, and Mozambique, Mariah brings a multicultural perspective to her work and understands the challenges of navigating different cultures, major life transitions, and the search for a sense of belonging. She is committed to creating a welcoming and culturally responsive environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued and respected.

Mariah believes that no one should have to face life's challenges alone. She believes faith and spirituality play an important role in helping people find meaning, hope, and healing. At the same time, she is committed to meeting clients where they are and creating a welcoming space for individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Outside of counseling, Mariah enjoys writing poetry, traveling, learning new languages, trying foods from different cultures, and spending time with family and friends.
