About Alyssa Purdes
Hi, I'm Alyssa! I am currently completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, working under the supervision of Myles Schutte, LPC-S. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Moody Bible Institute, and my background in theology and psychology shapes the way I see people—with dignity, curiosity, and unconditional care. I believe that reaching out for support is an act of profound courage, and that no one should have to navigate life alone. My goal is to create a safe, warm, and entirely non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable bringing your whole self.
I take a holistic, person-centered approach because I know there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to healing. I work with adults and adolescents navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem, and identity formation.
I utilize an integrative approach that includes CBT, ACT, and EMDR therapy, alongside expressive, relational therapies like Sand Tray. This blend of verbal and nonverbal tools allows me to meet clients in a variety of ways, providing tailored support for those carrying the weight of life’s complex challenges, offering a safe space to process both past experiences and present struggles.
I consider it a profound gift to be doing this work, and I’d love to be part of your journey toward healing. You don't have to figure it out alone.
